A site that I use extensively for my travel needs is http://www.kayak.com This site will search all the other travel sites (Orbitz, Expedia, hotel and airline websites, etc...) and locate the best deal. You can use it for hotels, flights, cars etc... I travel quite a bit and it is a real time saver when I need to book something and not spend all day.

Just a couple of thoughts if you are thinking of booking Hotel Cozumel.

Don't use Dive Paradise just for the convience. Have your husband research and decide what dive op to go with. They will pick him up at the boat dock there. He will still be able to use the rinse tanks if he uses someone else and the dive lockers belong to the hotel.....not Dive Paradise. All you have to do is ask for a locker key at the desk.

We usually get the best prices for hotels on either Apple or Funjet. Worryfree and Adventure Tours run have some decent prices, also.

Here's a few sites for you to check out....Have fun!

OK lets not get an ulcer over booking the trip.
The choices you made for the Apple price is in the ball park. Hotel Cozumel seems to fit your family and is close to town.
Dive with Christi at Bluextsea and you won't worry about your gear.

Book the darn trip--(get the insurance since your booking so early) then sit back and relax that everything is in motion.

You will not save that much by waiting and playing the web chase game.

Now, I figured that I could get a better deal by booking through a travel agent versus booking everything individually. Anyone know about some good deals out there for these hotels?

I'm not sure where your traveling from, but we just booked through WorryFreeVacations.com and got a great deal. We are traveling from Denver.

Dork Fish, whom to dive with can also depend on the price, [the larger Dive Ops are cheapear than the smaller ones and price seems to be a big motivater for your trip] and how experienced and current your husband is. If your husband is not current, or all that experienced, then he would be very comfortable with the onsite Dive Op, Dive Paradise, and their larger and slower boats -he'll dive the shallower sites. If he is current and experienced you can still dive with the onsite dive op, Dive Paradise, BUT ask for the EDP, experienced dive profile boats, which are smaller, faster boats. If he cannot get the smaller, more experienced boats, and he is current and an experienced diver, than dive with another Dive OP.

As someone said in this thread, a few people actually, just relax and do it -the price you were quoted is fair. All you're doing is giving yourself more aggravation than it's worth.

I always take trip insurance from www.TravelSafe.com for international trips, regardless - and I usually lose by waiting too book.

Don't you get trip insurance from your DAN medical coverage?

Nope. DAN dive insurance does not cover illnesses, lost luggage, trips cancelled or delayed for several reasons, etc. DAN has trip insurance, too - but I like this carrier.

We like to think that accidents are our only risk traveling, but not so. Airlines are only liable for $9.07 per pound on International flights. Jury duty happens. And so forth. Small price to cover you butt so you can relax and enjoy. :thumb:

Jury duty happens.

FWIW, I got called to jury duty once when I had plane tix booked to Cozumel. I wrote the court a letter with a copy of my Continental receipt, and I got a deferral, no prob. I would never cancel a vacation for jury duty.

Yeah I have, too actually, but not all courts are as understanding. Other things happen, too...

Forgiveness is often more easily obtained than permission. ,;^)
