Ah - I'm so jealous - I wish I could be there too!

We just got back late Tuesday night from our 10-day trip to Curacao staying with Sunshine and David - I already miss it sooo much!

I'm working on a trip report for the board now and hope to have it up soon along with a few pictures. You really must stop by Sol Food if you can - for excellent food and company :D

It's a hard job but someone has to do it. We look at it as our duty to show off the best of Curacao. And knowing the street signs it the rotary doesn't hurt (triangular shaped point on top with arrow has the right of way, point on the bottom and empty needs to yield). We had a great time and great dives with you guys! Please come back soon.
Fixxer and Dragon, have a good flight and we'll see you this weekend. But... Dragon we are not on the way to Habitat. A couple of miles from the rotary you'll go up a long hill, pass a building on the left with large palapas (tiki hut roofs) and soon see a billboard for Coral Estates on the right. The next left is the turn to St. Willibordus. You might see flamingos on the left in the shallow water. Basically you need to take left hand turns and follow signs to Coral Estates. Habitat is on the water in the gated community. To get to Westpunt you can either follow the road from the rotary or coming from Habitat again you'll take a couple of lefts where the signs indicate and follow the road that leads along the south side. It's almost like a giant lasso shape on the map. In Westpunt turn across from Jaanchies and bear left around the cemetery. This is also the road to the Lodge Kura Hulanda and Ocean Encounters West. We're big and green and like Shrek will soon have a visiting Dragon. Locals can probably make the trip in 20 minutes but it might take you up to a half hour so budget your time if you're making the OEW boat to Watamula. Sunshine

If you stay at Habitat and you are on a dive package (including shore diving) with Easy Divers, you can come to see us and dive Alice in Wonderland without having to bring your own tanks. Just ask Easy Divers to call Ocean Encounters West to announce when you are coming.

See you on Curacao soon, I hope :)

Andreas,

I sent you a private message.
I have some divers staying at Flamingo Villa that I want to send your way to experience OEW for a day or two.
Can you please email me?

Email is already on its way to you!

well I made it here, wish my gear had :(
airline says my gear bag will be here tomorrow night! set up with the dive shot here to use some rental stuff so I won't miss my boat dive tomorrow morning. Going to hit the bar, eat some grub and catch up on sleep. The dragon will be by tomorrow to check your place, lol after the dives.

Well what a first day! I dove mushroom forest and porto marie on the boat dives. Had to use rental gear because mine still wasn't here, but easy divers let me use them for free since mine was a lost luggage issue. Wonderful dives!! rested up and unsuccessfully tried to upload some of the photos ( not sure what was wrong, just completed load process and then said no pictures in file). Drove out to Sunshine and David's place, had a great visit, met Andreas, followed by a"GREAT" dinner. Stayed a while longer then I expected enjoying the company, also met ffixer and his wife :) ,and decided not to do another dive tonight. Had a drink at the bar back at Habitat and at about 10:30 the guy informed me my bag was here, YEAH!!!! Got my rig set up and am ready to hit the boat in the morning. After setting up a dive with OE on wed. and then one with David after, meeting up with Ffixer and wife for a dive "sometime" and with David again possibly another on thursday, my dance card is filling up! Goodnight all and well met........

Thank you to everyone for all the great info posted to this thread. Now it's my turn to plan my own trip to Curacao. We're looking for a laid-back, quiet place to stay, and all signs seem to point to All West apartments. Does anyone have any experience/feedback with them? They are located in/near Westpunt, and have a few restaurants but no store nearby, which seems to match the description of Hura Kulanda; are these two places next to each other?
