You might also want to look at the medical testing standards of the AAUS (American Academy of Underwater Sciences). See http://data.memberclicks.com/site/aaus/AAUS_Nov_2006.pdf, you can also get to it by going to Introduction to AAUS and Scientific Diving.
I am currently going through a...
Sure I'd dive with you. My wife had problems with descents when we started. It took a year to discovery it was allergies and find the right meds. Better now.
Best of luck to you and I hope the ENT helps.
Mike
No the spending never ends.
For wife: New U/W camera (Olympus e-pl1 with housing, strobe, and tray), new computer to go with it.
For me: JVC-FM1 video camera, housing, and light.
Nothing else I can think of at the moment.
Peter,
Like the photos. My wife just ordered an E-PL1 yesterday. I'm sure she would like to compare notes when she has had a chance to use it.
I'm hoping to be up in your area in Sept. I've already PMd Lynne and will be doing so again as our plans firm up.
Hope to see you then,
Mike
J,
Talk about clumsy. In cavern class I was trying to switch hands with the reel and dropped it. Was expecting a lecture on that on and didn't get it. I did recover and just sunk slowly to the reel and continued.
Good luck,
Mike
Started our AOW the day after OW. First dive was the "deep". Was it the best thing? Absolutely not but it ended up working out for us. I'll explain.
Finished OW on Feb 5, 2005. Did deep the next day. I do think our instructor knew us well enough to allow it (I was actually certified in 1967 but...
Check your weights every time before entering the water. I had the weights come off one while entering the water at Casino Point on Catalina. Fortunately they landed on the bottom step and I was able to put them back on and didn't lose any.
I get the thumb screw finger tight and then grad the...
Lynne,
My wife and I took a cavern class and would love to go further. Can't really see either of us in doubles but I guess you never know.
Wish I could be there for your talk. If the distance was 1/2 or less I might just try.
I know your enthusiasm will come through. Good luck.
Mike
I'll approach this from a different angle. In the other thread the OP started (on equipment) he said something to the effect that his contract had prohibitions on doing things that are "dangerous" and he asked if SCUBA could be considered in this category (I think tongue in cheek). Now if...
I voted to buy from my local shop but my wife and I did a cavern class a couple of years ago and actually had the shop in Florida ship them to us in California.
Definitely read study before the trip.
Mike
Most of my favorites have been named but I have a few to add.
Saspotato to start, she has made some great posts and made me laugh too.
Rick Inman and Lamont also come to mind.
Mike
My wife and I have gotten lenses fitted in our masks and have been happy with the work from Welcome to Prescription Dive Masks 1-800-538-2878.. I know they are a long ways for you but they can handle it entirely by mail. At $119 for readers I think it would do great for you.
Good luck,
Mike
There is a spray coating for tools that is available. I used it on some fishing weights I used to get my strobe neutral. Should work fine. Try a hardware store. Comes in several colors.
Mike
Lynne (and Bob),
As my wife and I have talked about coming up there to dive, can you recommend a good time (weather and dive conditions). We don't have any definite trips set for this year yet so it might be possible this year.
I'd always wanted to meet both of you since before I joined SB...
