Correct me if i'm wrong, but I just bought an Oceanic GT/CDX5 regulator set and my LDS told me that Oceanic gives free parts to the dive shops to service the regs. This means that you will only pay for the labor. (I assume that there are a few shops that don't like the consumer to know this...
I use toothpaste all of the time. After I clean it with that, I smear a little Johnson & Johnson's baby shampoo in there and let it dry. With a quick rinse right before you jump in the water, you should be clean and fog free for about 10 dives.
Glad to have ya!! I've been in a couple of low vis situations myself, and they can be slightly unnerving. It sounds like you did a great job. This board is a great place to learn all about the sport. Best of luck.
Though I have never purchased anything from them, www.scubatoys.com will offer you a full factory warranty because they are a licensed dealer for all of their products. They also have very good prices. It might be worth checking out:)
I did a week on blackbeard's this spring break and loved it. I am a college student, so getting the most bang (or dives) for my buck was at the top of my list. I love camping, so the trip was a natural fit for me. I will surely go back as many times as my wallet will allow.
wow, you must be the luckiest person alive. Best of luck with your friend's gear. When I read your first post about the missing gear, I was pretty sad. I'm so happy that the gear was returned. Congrats!
They also dry very quickly and you can throw on mesh shorts over them so you're not advertising your "bidness", that is, unless that is your intention...
I have used the Veo 100 fairly extensively. It is a good computer, however it only has one button. This means that you have to push that one button a ton of times to cycle all the way through the displays. I would highly recommend getting a Veo 200. It has two buttons which make it much more...
for personal gear, like a mask, fins, snorkel and booties, I use a mesh laundry bag. You can get one at Wal Mart for about $2. If you are talking about the whole enchilada, that is a slightly more expensive and hefty story.
For all of the Guinness drinkers on the board.... try Abita Turbo Dog from Abita Brewing in New Orleans. We can get the stuff in a few select bars up in Ohio, so I assume that it is fairly widely available. I'm a huge guinness drinker, ( I mean I drink a lot of it, not that I'm 6'8" or 400...
I just returned from a liveaboard trip where I used the Ocean Pro QLR BC and Alpha 7 regulator as rental gear. I had no problems with the gear, whatsoever. The regulator performed great, even at 120 ft. Also, the BC was simple to use and worked fine. I would recommend this gear as a...
I would say that part of the reason is that with a tank mounted valve down, it would be nearly impossible to doff your equipment when you get out of the water without hitting the valve and your first stage on something. Also, you would almost have to completely dissasemble your rig everytime...
Personally, I love my Oceanic veo 200. I got it in the wrist mount version, and it is a breeze to use. It is nitrox compatable, but not air integrated. I like the fact that it is not, however you will hear differing opinions on that. I prefer to carry an entire cluster of analog guages in...
