Dont pull my posts out of context and use them inappropriately. ......

these are your exact posts....... no pulling anything on this side of the typewriter... your words, your posts

I think a lot of people do it to quickly boost their post count - where else can you reply to the same pages 100x with the same message without even reading the post. I have seen a lot of generic postings telling a user to do something (fill out profile, post where your from, etc) that they already did in the post - if the person would just take the time to read the post instead of spamming the same message on ever post.

I have noticed lately several people "mass post" a generic "welcome" message to 2-4 entire pages of threads in the "Introductions" forum.

In doing this, threads from 1+ weeks ago are now at the top of the forum and brand new threads get pushed to pages 2-5+ and rarely get seen again. There are a lot of people here who actual read the posts and respond and acknowledge the new members which is excellent. However it seems there are a growing number who go thru pages and at a time writing a generic response and pushing new threads down to the bottom and old to the top.

Maybe set a higher interval between posts in this forum or even make posts not count towards postcount.

So they should just post about something random or post things that don't even make sense? Once again, it has NOTHING to do with boosting post count - i could care less if thats what makes them tick. That is not the problem at hand, once again.

and im with Davo, stick a fork in me too Pete and im done

i can only repeat, your suggestion has been reviewed and a good option given to you so i hope you choose to use it

cheers

Why should I have to ignore staff members posts? If anything, they should be the posts that actually added reason, maturity, and fairness to the threads.
Now YOU are missing the point... ignore the new posts in that forum. We have told you HOW to do it, and have asked you for a possible solution. It's just that simple.

Now, I am not sure why you think staff should be silent in these threads. They are USERS first and have as much at stake in this forum as you do. If they post as staff, they usually precede it with a

Until they do that, and they won't in threads where they have already commented, they are to given the same respect as any other user and are allowed to have opinions contrary to yours or any other user for that fact. Again, there is nothing in the ToS against a moderator, advisor or any other staff voicing their opinions.

Actually, once again, if you actually read my post I did provide two possible solutions
So you did... one is not feasible given our current software, and the other, according to your recent postings, is moot as it is not their reason for posting. So there you have it. Now you are free to use the work arounds given you, or not.
Just because a post is within the ToS does not mean that is good for the forum.
This sounds suspiciously like a NOK comment. We don't do NOK around here! NOK=Not Our Kind.

The moderators of ScubaBoard have been tasked with keeping things friendly, not in trying to control the thoughts our our users. Over Moderation is just unfair to EVERYONE here. Moderating posts which do not violate the ToS is a violation in and of itself. Again, I am not sure how you would expect us to act on this without violating our own ToS?

Once again, post count boosting was my reasoning behind it - not the problem I presented. The way you posted my quotes made it sound like it was the only thing the post was about when it was just a very small part of it if worth anything at all.

This post was actually focused and about the presented topic until posts #7,8,9 were posted.

No, i am not. Once again, how is the solution to ignore new members posting? If you actually look in the intro thread I read and respond to almost every single member and encourage them to keep posting. Therefor, this has nothing to do with me ignoring the forum because I try to be very active in it. This is all about coming in and pushing old posts to the bottom and new to the top and flooding the new posts section.

Go back and carefully re-read the posts up until #7. All this was was a simple suggestion and feedback - yet people here have to make a big deal out of nothing - it was a suggestion and feedback - this IS the feedback forum :shakehead:

No, Will. You can go back and read them. I have few better things to do at the moment. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and I am sorry we have no remedy for your consternation.

Happy New Years to Everyone! I will now bow gracefully from this thread.

So Nitro, I have to ask. Do you actually dive or would that cut into your post reporting and complaining time? For Gods sake man, quit trying to police the board and just enjoy it.:shakehead:

Agreed, one Dandy Don is one too many to begin with.
