Maybe I am working in the wrong shop. But tips are a large part of my income. I try to provide excellent service. Many times we are not really compensated for the extra time that we take with our students.
I provide them with knowledge of the new sport. Yes that is my job. I feel that I give excellent service.....
If I do not go above and beyond the norm. Then I understand no tips. But on the days that I am a DM on the boat and I have to do a rescue. Do you think that would warrant a tip. Or watch your kids, or entertain them so that others on the boat do not want to throw them over. Or you come with new equipment not put together, I will put it together for you, but also bring along extra in case your does not work correctly.
My job also involves taking care of those that get sea sick, and cleaning up after them. You see it is more than just diving. I love what I do and think that I am good at it. I remember that you are on vacation and I want you to have a great experience. But I still have bills to pay at the end of the day.
