This thread is nuts......

The back and forth seems crazy......

Dive and let dive......

Each diver has to make their own choices...I don't look at a someones gear and decide if I would or would not dive with them.....

I have seen great divers with hog, BCD, chlorine bleached brown with Aquaseal all over it BCD), soft pack, hard pack, vintage, loaded harness, Hawaiian rig, old school BCD (parkway with styrofoam inserts), rebreather, no wing, double bladder wing......etc...

It's about the diver not the gear.....once you find what works for you, it works.....

Yeah, right? What a complete derailment in the green zone.

Where are the mods?

Oh yeah, right in the mix.:coffee:

Agreed.

People can't see the harm in a plastic QR buckle snapping...... wait until you've had that happen on day 2 of your dream liveaboard holiday...

Again....just playing devil's advocate. So this happens on my webbing harness, I pull the slack through the bottom hole and re-adjust the shoulder straps. Finish the week without the buckle. Big deal.

OP has 3 posts.

And fewer than 25 dives. Just sayin'.

OP may not have recieved any definitive answer for his question (because there isn't a definitive answer), but I am sure he's learnt a lot about BP&W...and the relative choices, merits and considerations that apply to them. If nothing else, he knows to look beyond the marketing and really examine his options before purchasing.

OP may not have learned anything......

Some of the posts are soooooo biased........

How old is the OP?

Thought he was a kid.

Maybe I have my threads confused.

A ScubaBoard Staff Message...

I have just deleted seven off-topic posts initiated by a discussion of a username. This is still the green zone:
This is a learning zone and consequently, any off-topic or overly harsh responses will be removed.

Do you get scared off by overheated arguing? If a thread has lost its utility to you, feel free to ignore it, whether you're the OP or otherwise.

Not scarred off yet, just trying to take it all in, I think from the info given above I will go with a basic HOG harness to start off with, from the recommendations given I will be buying it from Tobin.

Cheers

BTW I'm 24 (not sure if that makes me a kid or not?) just getting into diving and wanting to not make the mistake of purchasing gear I don't need because it looks fancy.

So thanks for clearing up the differences and uses as well as philosophies involved.
