Is this utter heresy?

I have an Oxycheq BP/W and I'm thinking about getting an AirDuo II or Air2. I would assume compatibility...anybody have any experience with this?

no real reason it wouldn't work. Air2's are best available for you locally at Air Tech in Raleigh and they'd be able to install it.
DGX Gears BCD Regulator
that will be cheap and easy to install as well.

Question I have, is why do you think it will be an advantage for you over a traditional primary donate setup with a secondary on a necklace

My wife/buddy dives a BP/W with an Air2 and her primary on a 40" hose routed under her arm.

Without getting too deep into the combined vs separate debate, I like the idea of having fewer hoses and a simpler setup. I might hang on to my old octo for a few dives to see how I like a combo.

Also, thanks for the link to the DGX, I had no idea they had a combo. I'm intrigued by it if I can find some reviews somewhere...

It should be fine.
But I won't use it for one reason:
I don't know how to get the spare parts as well as servicing it personally.

Make sure you like breathing from it because in emergency it is the one that goes into your mouth. Practice how to deflate/inflate the bc while breathing from it and also with an out of air diver on your primary 2nd stage at the same time.

DGX should have parts kits for it.

@smokn' What I would do in your circumstance is to go to Air Tech/Gypsy Divers in Raleigh and ask to use one of their rental rigs with an AirII on it. You'll be able to dive it in their pool for a small fee, like $10 or something in the pool. If you ask nicely, they may have one they can put on your wing temporarily and on your regulator set so you can try it out. Obviously if you go that route it would be the right thing to do to buy the combo from them, but it's a great opportunity to dive it in a pool before you buy. You could also ask them if you could rent it, and go out on June 10th to their cookout at Fantasy Lake Scuba Park and talk with some of the guys out there who have them.

It is one fewer hose, but it is NOT simpler in use.

To each his own. It will work with a BP/W as long as the corrugated inflator hose is long enough to comfortably support breathing off it.

You have 1 less hose, that is the advantage

disadvantages
custom inflator hose-means you can't use your reg set on a rental bcd if you need to *there are at least 3 different kinds of quick connects*. You can't use your bcd with a rental reg set if you have to unless you are OK with not having a power inflator hose.

breathing in practice. If you are OK breathing off of it while handling buoyancy, then all is well. A lot of people aren't, I prefer not to

I got one initially for the same reason you are considering it. I went away from it for a number of reasons. If the inflator valve has a problem you can't just disconnect it and inflate manually. The bigger issue for me is this. I thought I would have a more compact setup but it wasn't really true. With the integrated solution the inflator hose must be longer and that means you need to retain it somehow so it isn't dangling and it is pretty darned stiff so I was unable to find a solution that worked well. When I went to a dedicated secondary second stage secured with a necklace, it is flexible and snug in tight and right where I need it if I need it. Right under my chin. The dedicated inflator on the other hand is now able to me much shorter and stays right on my shoulder where it is always where my hand expects it to be. No more dangling combo inflator/octo. It was a transitional thing but I wish I had saved the money and gone straight to the long hose primary and necklaced octo. It just works better for me.
