Not including 3 that I didn't leave the airport (Lebanon, Dubai, Argentina) but keeing a handful that are no longer countries (but were when I visited), 43.

I thought I had travelled a lot but I bow deeply and reverently to some of you (and am secretly a little jealous).

Frankly, I'm a little surprised. When I travel I encounter the odd North-American in off-the-beaten-track places but to see that I'm a relative guppy in this crowd of world-travellers is surprising.

It's also pleasing.... because building bridges to a future of world peace requires an understanding of each other's culture and society that needs to be seen up close and not viewed on TV or (God forbid) Fox-news, internet or word-of-mouth.

You all rock!

R..

I see nothing weird about wanting to see new countries all the time. I used to be a total workaholic. I never took vacation and never had a job which required travel. My wife changed all that. Now I'm always thinking about where I want to go next. In the last 10 years I have been to 26 countries (not including Canada).

I've been to 39 so far

only in my late 30s so I hope to travel a bunch more in the next 50 years of my life, if I live that long!! :D
