I dove with Dive Locker last week and they are still running their boats. No sign of oil while I was there.
My son was doing his AOW cert and we also dove at Vortex springs so in the event oil hits, you always have a freshwater option to the north.
I'll be in Cozumel February 10 on the Voyager of the Seas
I'm looking for someone to go diving with in Cozumel and book our our own 6 pack boat instead of diving through the shore excursions desk. I want to stay away from the cattle boats the cruise ships use. I prefer to dive with Papa Hogs...
It would be OK to dive those again but I would really rather see something new. So I'll inquire about an offshore 3 tank trip. I'll probably spend a 1/2 day at the jetties as well.
I agree. I've been going there since 1986 when I met my wife. My brother lived there from 1977 till 2 years ago.
It's not the same place it once was. We stayed there as a family 2 summers ago and said never again. But my father-in-law is still fond of the place and wants a big group...
I won't be filling a boat as it will just be my son and I diving. But I'll chek into the ops mike_s recommended and see if I can get someone that will run to some of the other sites.
I'll research the aircraft carrier as well but I thought I read somewhere the flight deck was at 130ft and you...
My first ocean dive/boat dive was in PC with Hydrospace a couple years ago. We dove Black Bart and Bridge span 14 (see avitar). It looks like we're going back for a week in late July and was wondering what your recommendations are?
I'm sort of interested in trying lobster hunting and I...
Thanks for all the prompt replies and you answered my 'unasked' question too (water temp now)
I have a 7 mil full suit and 3 mil hood with 5 mill gloves and boots. Don't have a seperate vest but could possible rent. I'll check out those sites.
Thanks again for the info.
Will be in Thousand Oaks over the next weekend and was thinking about bringing gear with me. Anything you can recommend nearby, maybe Malibu? Any dive ops offering boat trips near there?
Not sure I want to dive this time of year but I should give it some thought before I head that way. Thanks
Sorry to dig up an old post but I just booked with Aldora for 2 weeks from now but I don't know exactly where they are located. I looked at their websited and couldn't find an address. Can someone give me an idea about where to find them? Anywhere near Blue Angel?
Thanks
What? You don't like Lake Murry? Nothing like that exciting wreck dive looking for the sunken motorcycle. Assuming you can see as far as your fingertips.
I had heard the same horror stories about using outside dive ops at Iberostar. However, I stayed theree in February '06 and had Papa Hogs pick me up twice with no problems. I saw Blue Angel and a few other ops pick up guests there as well. The hotel had a guy on the dock that wrote down names...
My son and I went to Elmer Thomas a month ago. But since we started diving in Cozumel and Grand Cayman, we've lost interest in lake diving.
Last year we went to Beaver lake. That was OK.
I was pretty pleased with Panama City Florida last year as well.
I hate wearing the 7mil wetsuit!
I've been diving with them twice and both times they were very accomidating. Once when I was coming in on a cruise ship, they scheduled a later departure group so that we coul make it on time. Last time, they picked me up each day at Iberostar, pretty far south for the hotels
They alwasy aked...
What HE said.
i used Neptunes divers last November and am using them again in 3 weeks. Casey gave close attention to those with less experience and kept an eye on the younger divers that were on the boat with us. They won't take groups larger than 8 ppl.
Ditto.
But I've heard that since El Coz is so far North, they (Ocean Tours) don't get to many of the better dive sites to the south. If I were staying at El Cozumeleno and going diving, I would take a taxi to one of the shops further south.
Check with your LDS for local trips they take. Mine goes to Lake ELmer Thomas or Murray every Sunday morning. If I want to go (and assuming my son isn't up to going with me) I know I can show up there 7:30 am on any given Sunday and go with them. But I need water 60degrees or above so this...
