Oh it does - and the stupid part made it hurt even worse. Nobody's fault but mine. 100% now though so I am one of the lucky ones -
Diving gives me a similar rush to bikes. I don't race any more, so the technical side of selecting, prepping and maintaining my gear fills a niche, and the fact that staying calm is paramount attracts me as well. When riding, if things begin to go badly a skilled rider can overcome their natural instincts (instinct in a corner entered too hot is to hit the brakes, stand it up, etc, all bad things) and go against their brain to save the situation. Diving has that same requirement to quell panic should things begin to get dicey.
