I wish I could use up a portion of my remaining 4 weeks’ vacation by the end of September (when they will expire) with a trip to Coz, but EVEN IF my country opens up I’m just not sure how far along Coz will be on the curve. Maybe they won’t be ready for us yet. As it stands it looks like I’ll “waste” all my vacation days at home. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s really nothing to complain about. I should be grateful to even have vacation days, which means I still have a job.
EXACTLY! There will always be other trips, other holidays, other dives. Tourists need to take a chill pill.

Except for the fact that Cozumel needs tourism to survive. If Coz does return to work starting June 1st, what's the point if there aren't any tourists?

A lot of people all over the world need their jobs or careers to survive.
Doesn't do any of us any good if we're dead, or with life long severely compromised lung function.

The point is that if the QRoo governor plans to let people return to work starting June 1st, they expect tourism in June.

That's great! I'll check Interjet when the time comes. We were finding flights for lots of $$$ that had a 6 hour layover in Mexico city.
Except that Interjet is failing, having planes repossessed, and may not be around. It's just not a route that sells.

Is PV open now? How can you go there before Coz?

That's really the only view that seems reasonable. I'm amazed that anyone would see it otherwise.

My grandparents lived through the 1917-1918 flu pandemic. They and my parents lived through the Great Depression, Dust Bowl (living in the heart of it), smallpox and polio epidemics, and WWII. My ancestors who migrated to Texas before them lived through the Civil War, Yellow Fever, and much more. I'm having to stay home with air conditioning, purified water, limited choices of toilet paper, and a longer interval between seeing my great-grandbabies than I like, but no Indian attacks. It's fine.

On a side note, having to resort to another brand of toilet paper - Royale instead of our normal Charmin (which was out of stock forever) - my husband exclaimed, “Hey, Royale’s not too bad!” Lol. Sometimes if we break out of our usual mould we may discover little niceties along the way.

I know everybody wants to go back to work and the Qroo government wants to open by June 1, but I wonder how the locals feel about it all. Do they agree with the government? Do they think it’s too early to open? Here in Canada, some polls suggest 2/3 of the people think it’s too early to open up and they’d rather wait it out a bit. But then we’ve had some pretty decent government financial support so maybe that affects people’s views.

Your profile hides your location, but I think you're in Canada, aren't you? You should be buying locally produced TP like Royale anyway. This whole TP shortage has been amazing with mills that supply schools & offices idle, homes needing more, and then the hoarders who tried to pay for vacations by ebaying it. I hope that they all get stuck.

The first TP I used was torn from a Sears-Robuck catalog, but we weren't flushing then. I quit Charmin when they started only stocking Mega sizes (falsely advertised as four times as much as regular) as they are too large for my home's holders. We country folks tend to hoard TP anyway to ensure we always have enough to get through blizzards, but I do the weekly shopping for my brother's home and they started running low, so his wife requested Charmin if possible. I found her Cottonelle which is Charmin's top competitor in the US, and I bet no one notices a difference.

I get on Marge's nerves too much already tho, so back to travel plans! I have three or four trips still planned - camping, DC, Cozumel, and maybe Sequoia NP with the kids. I hope that restrictions can be removed, but supporting business at the expense of higher fatality rates is not appealing.

Going by a number of recent posts and threads, it seems that (to paraphrase George Orwell), "some off-topic posts are more equal than others". :shakehead:
