I thought I was disagreeing with you, but, perhaps, I just didn't understand what you wrote.

When you said, slowest compartment, I assumed you were talking about the slowest compartment in the RDP, 480 min. If you actually meant using the 60 min compartment rather than the 120 min compartment for SI credit, and dropping the slowest compartment in the USN table, 120 min, then we were talking about the same thing :)
 
The definition of bottom time is fundamentally different; PADI’s is dependent on whether a safety stop is required or not.
I don't know what this means. Could you please elaborate?

I'm not quite clear on the minutiae, even towards myself.

If every compartment follows a standard exponential curve, how can the 60 or 120 min compartment decide SI credit and not the 480 min compartment?
 
Wheel gives an answer not there....
23 min because the SI credit to me is a letter higher as it is "on the line" - if I read it non-conservatively it is 24 min

Interesting link to the eRDP. Never used/played with one.... Actually, never seen one in use.
I've seen one in use but it was useless since we descended to 120' and gradually ascended with no set time at any specific depth. I have an eRDPml--nice toy to practice on or fool around with. Not practical (IMO) for diving unless you have a very specific depth level(s) plan and stick to it pretty exactly.
 
Bottom Time
PADI: Surface to surface or to first mandatory safety stop.
BSAC: Surface to 6m or 9m (if deeper deco stop required).
PADI defines Bottom Time as the time from initial descent until beginning the final ascent to the surface or safety stop.
 
@TMHeimer - square profile diving a deep water wreck comes to mind quite easily as a match (but nowdays a pdc is my choice)

It is the electronic equivalent to the Wheel. It allows for 5-ft increments in depth, and for multi-level diving. That makes it more useful than a static table, but of course less useful than a computer.

That’s what I thought until I did some research earlier today. However, maybe someone can clarify PADI’s current definition.
 
It is interesting that you can use the SAUL recreational dive planner to calculate the probability of DCS based on gas, bottom time, and depth. It does assume a standard 3 min SS SAUL Recreational Dive Planner | Modern Decompression This is for single, 1st dive
