    Well stocked dive shop

There are two well stocked dive shops in St. Catharines. Dan's Diveshop ( http://www.dansdiveshop.ca ) and Adventure Scuba. Kingston also has few. I live in the St. Catharines area, and I've never been told that something needed to be ordered...

Next time a "laker" passes near by ...

Wow. The almost ran over a few people, did all kinds of reef damage and they were only delayed for 3 hours.. I don't think anything will happen..

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

    Bad Air on Mountain?

I guess the point I was trying to make (although not very clearly..) if someone is not satisfied with a service they receive, they should do something about it.. go back to the same place to talk to them.. or if you are really dissatisfied, take your business elsewhere to someone you are...

    Bad Air on Mountain?

I've had my tanks cleaned at Dan's Dive Shop and at Adventure Scuba.. Both stores did a nice job.. no aftertaste... Does it really make a difference what caused the problem? If you are not happy with the results, get it re done someplace else..

Accident discussions worthless? (split from accident thread)

Is there actually a single entity in Canada that records and analyzes dive fatalities? Is it mandatory to report them to a specific place for the record? So far, all I've seen are a bunch of disjunct web pages that cover cases from the mid 90's. Most of those were produced by third parties not...

    My Last Guess the Wreck

A bit theatrical don't you think?

    Rockport Update

This is probably another town crying out for government handouts because of a drop in tourism... I guess shore diving is out.. I don't think they can prohibit boat dives, as long as you depart from someplace other than their boat ramp.

    New Shipwreck Rules For Canada

I agree with you, wrecks should not be restricted. You are correct, most divers are self policing. However, I would like to see stricter penalties and improved enforcement for those that break the rules and damage wrecks. Maybe it could even go as far as a local diving organization (club...

    computer dependent divers...

I don't see what all the fuss is about.. the computer is a 'convenience'.. nothing more.. before each dive I put together a dive plan with tables.. I track my depth with my depth guauge.. the computer serves as a backup and timing device.. It has all the info in one spot.. max depth.. time...

    Local advice please :)

Cool.. Thanks for the info.. Certainly makes sense.. I like your explanation better than Tom R's :D I've never managed to flood my suit yet, so I guess its never been an issue before.. I'll have to try some of that new fangled underwear :) Perfect timing too.. I need some new undies.. the old...

    Local advice please :)

Nope.. Can't say that I have.. I take care of my gear :) However, I did get the weasels totally soaked on one occasion and they were still comfy and warm. What would you recommend?

    Local advice please :)

I just thought I would add my 2 cents to this thread.. I've owned a DUI TLS 250 shell suit and curently own a DUI CF200 crushed neoprene suit. The shell suit was nice, but it was a looser fit than CF200. My weight fluctuates quite a bit during the year and I found that the CF200 is more...

    Tobermory - Diving Fatality

Thought about it.. Unfortunately I'm broke at the moment.. Its not forgotten, just postponed.. Courses are fun.. They always point out how little I really know.. At the moment diving has to take a back seat to some other stuff that's going on...Maybe next year.

    Tobermory - Diving Fatality

Adivice is always nice.. Just remember that some of the students get overwhelmed.. Don't scare them so much with advice (often perceived at criticism) that they drop out of the sport. If they are really interested they wil grow into it and learn for themselves.. Get more training, etc..

    Tobermory - Diving Fatality

Of course there is nothing wrong with asipring to improve. Just as long as people don't get forced to do it... What's horrendous to some is acceptable to others.

    Tobermory - Diving Fatality

Cool.. When someone mentions current, I usually assiciate "Niagara River" current with that word.. So this might be a fun dive after all.. I can stop and look around when I want to :) Haven't had the camere out underwater lately.. I wanted to shoot the Tiller and really put my strobe to good...
