I see that grin. I hope all our bowl bound teams will make the conference proud.

Since LSU is ranked number two, I sure hope they won't quit rising until after the whip up on Ohio State. I would love to see a second SEC team beat them in the NC game.

Notice how the bowl games though are getting strung out farther and farther this year?

I mean everyone seems to have a bowl game this year. it's kinda ridiculous.

Yeah, next year it will be the cold water divers of Washington vs the warm water divers of Florida in the ScubaBoard Bowl!

If he is really interested in the welfare of his assistants he won't go anywhere for another year. Most assistants don't stay in one place long enough to ever be vested for retirement and unlike Tubby they don't make enough to not have to worry about retirement. snip, snip.

Ok... here is the info I was refering to in my above reply about this.

The average teacher salary in the state of Alabama is $40,347 (Source: National Education Assoc)

At Auburn, Offenseive Coordinator Al Borges, Defense coordinator Will Muschamp both make $325,000 per year. That's about 8 times as much as the average teacher in Alabama makes and on par with what some CEO's of small corporations make.

People that make this type of money don't forget the details about early termination of their contracts. I guarentee that they will be compensated. Mike Shula for example is laughing all the way to the bank with his $4million buyout.

Other salaries of coaches at Auburn: (Does not include bonuses)
  • Tommy Tuberville - $2.6million. does not include $1.5million for personal appearances,etc.
  • Al Borges Off Coordinator - $325,000
  • Will Muschamp, Def Coordinator - $325,000
  • Hugh Nall, Off Line Coach - $183,750
  • Eddie Gran, Run Bck Coach - $183,750
  • Steve Ensminger, TE Coach $173,750
  • Don Dunn, DT Coach - $173,750
  • Terry Price, DE Coach - $173,750
  • James Willis, LB Coach - $157,500

Note this doesn't include bonuses. They will all get a bonus for going to the Chick-fa-la bowl, and for other criteria for the season.

Highest paid assistant coach in the SEC: Gary Crowton (Off. Coord, LSU) and Bo Pelini (Def. Coord, LSU) - $400,000 per year (plus bonuses).

Highest paid coach in the SEC (and college football): Nick Saban, $4million per year plus bonuses and perks such as 2 vechicles for his personal use, country club membership, access to the Universities private jet for personal use (up to 25 flight hours per year), etc .....

Only two head coaches in the SEC make less than $1million per year. Ed Orgeron at Ole Miss makes $905,000 and Sylvester Croon makes $940,000. Both are close enough that with bonuses, personal appearances, TV shows, etc that they easily make 7 figures a year. (Disclaimer: don't know what Vandies coach is paid as they are a private institution and not required by law to disclose salaries).

So I don't feel sorry for these guys. They are doing what they love to do and getting well paid to do it.

This is what my NCAA Division I-A playoff would look like this year:
